Join us for an introduction to 6-Count Lindy Hop! In the world of "swing dance", there are a few essential dances to know: Charleston, 6-Count Lindy Hop, and 8-Count Lindy Hop, which is considered the soul of the dance. We'll teach you the basic 8-Count Lindy Hop footwork and some simple, fun moves that will get you out on the dance floor. We’ll teach you how to connect with any partner, and build your confidence dancing to different styles and tempos of music. We'll break things down slowly and clearly, give you plenty of practice time, and rotate partners throughout the class so you'll have a chance to dance with everyone. For those of you brand new to swing dancing, this is a great class to get you started.
NOTE: Experienced students can be invited to join the 6:00 PM B+ Lindy Soup class. Learn more about our levels and other weekly classes here.

Beginner Ballroom is a way for folks who have never danced before, or folks who are returning to dance after a break, to learn the basic moves of two ballroom dances. By the end of the six weeks, you should feel comfortable dancing a full song in each dance. Along with learning steps, we also work on leading, following, body movement and control, and working with a variety of partners. You will also start to train your ear for the music used for each dance being taught. Because there are so many ballroom dances, we change dances every six weeks to constantly expand your base of knowledge.
Healthy body movement and correct basics will set you up to feel at home in either a social dance situation or to move on to a competitive studio. Partners or past dance experience are not necessary to attend the class. The best students come in with curiosity and a willingness to try.
